  • "On the Prowl" [The Others Series, Book 6] by Christine Warren
    Expected Publication Released Date: April 24, 2012

    Author's Book Description:
      Most girls would throw a fit if their parents tried to set up an arranged marriage for them. It's so outrageously old-fashioned—even for a Tiguri family, members of a fierce race of shapeshifting weretigers. But Saskia isn't getting her claws out just yet. She'll go through with this marriage to help unite two powerful families—and because her husband-to-be Nicolas Preda is the sexiest, hunkiest, and only man she's ever wanted...

      Of course, marrying an alpha male like Nic comes with its share of danger. As leader of his Streak and head of a global corporation, Nic and his new fiancĂ©e must take their places in the jungles of Manhattan—and the local Others seem to have a strict “no pets” policy. In fact, the Council seems to think the Tiguri are at the root of all their problems, including an attempt on the life of its leader. If Nic hopes to protect his name and his mate, it's hunt or be hunted—and he can't do it alone. But if anyone can bring out the beast in him, it's the sexy, savage tigress he's sworn to love...

    Book Teaser:
    She pitched forward, barely grabbing the branch with both hands before slipping from the window ledge. One second she swung through the air and the next she came up short.
    Oh, heavens above. Something caught her skirt, causing it to bunch up around her waist and expose her drawers for all God's tiny garden creatures to see.
    Lana tightened her grip and suppressed a whimper. Why did she leave the ballroom? ~ within Chapter 1

    "Getting Familiar With Your Demon" [That Old Black Magic Series, Book 4] by Jodi Redford

    My Book Summary : Recently Marabella (Bella) has seen a physic who informed her that she has been cursed with virginity, which would really explain why all of her dates seemly end up leaving her whenever they are on the verge of getting hot and heavy with each other. After one of these types of dates, Bella comes across a very hot demon, Sam, who she can't seem to stop thinking about. However, when she finds him in a situation where he could get himself killed she helps out much to his annoyance.

    Sam has recently been relinquished from being tortured and into the hands of someone even worse. The only way he can think of getting out of his predicament is by getting himself killed. Therefore, when Bella protects him, to say he isn't please is an understatement. Nevertheless, both of them leave from that experience believing they'll never see each other again, even though they both were very much attracted to each other.

    So, when Sam's cousin finds another way to earn Sam freedom that involves Bella (in a way), he is both intrigued and nauseous at the prospect. However, what was originally one-time meeting turns into something a whole lot more when emotions and other people get involved...

    My Book Review : 4 out of 5 stars!!! This novel is a great new addition to Jodi's That Old Black Magic Series! It takes you on an adventure that you might not expect (I know I didn't) and turns into a wonderful story about love, responsibility, and what it means to have a conscience.

    I will admit that the first few chapters made me think I wasn't going to enjoy this novel but around the time that Nikki (one of Sam's cousins) gets kidnapped and they start looking into Bella's past I was so intrigued with this novel that I couldn't help but love it by the end!! The characters are very amusing and clever! I loved the twists in this novel! In addition to finding out that Domino isn't a complete hard ass like I always thought she was. =0)

    I recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Jodi's That Old Black Magic Series! In addition, this novel could be read as a standalone book (I believe) so if you like paranormal books that deal with demons, witches, reapers and mates then this is the book for you!!

    Book Teaser(s) :
    Jerking his focus to the stove, he spied a frying pan holding the charcoaled remains of...something. One of the few spatulas he owned was half melted to the burner. What the hell? His patience at an all-time low, he held his breath, crossed to the sink and cranked open the window situated above it. A breeze stirred through, scattering the acrid scent blanketing the kitchen.
    He awarded Nikki a baleful glare. “Is there a reason you’re murdering my appliances and utensils?”
    “I was making breakfast. Except I’m not very good at it.”
    “Clearly.” ~ within Chapter 5
    Why deny the natural sexual chemistry between them? It’d only condemn him to a constant hard-on. They could fuck each other’s brains out and leave it at that. It might even kill his obsession with her once and for all.
    He slid a glance toward her and noticed she was sniffling. Aw hell. He’d been cock-blocked by a damn chick flick. Shifting his focus to the TV screen, he attempted to deduce what sappiness had her all misty-eyed, but damn if he could figure it out. In the movie, the big guy who apparently liked to dance a lot---but redeemed himself by driving a ’57 Chevy---said something about not putting Baby in a corner before dragging his girlfriend away from the table. From the looks of things, they were going to dance again.
    Bloody fuck. Who danced this much? It was abnormal.
    Marabella blotted her eyes with a tissue and gave another sniffly sigh. “Now that’s true love.”
    “You’ve got to be shittin’ me.” ~ within Chapter 15

    "Stud" [The Cat Star Chronicles, Book 8] by Cheryl Brooks

    My Book Summary : Over the years, Tarq has put what he knew best to work over the years, by being a stud, and it has made him rich. Nevertheless, it has yet to make him really happy.

    As far as Loucinda (Lucy) can remember she has been the one to do everything her parents have ever asked for. From making sure breakfast was ready in the mornings for them to never dating a guy before because her father made sure none came around and a whole lot more.

    When these two meet at Lucy's father's restaurant, it is love at first sight/smell. However, when false pretenses, insecurities, and other people try to come between them, how will they ever be able to admit to each other how they truly feel? Or by the time one of them does .... will it already be too late?

    My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars! Sweet and adventurous is how I would describe this latest novel from The Cat Star Chronicles series. I love this series because of the Zetithians (males and females) and their unique ways! Therefore, I could not wait to read this novel. The characters were colorful and I'm really interested to see if Vertigan will have a bigger role in the next book or not. I really liked the chemistry between Tarq and Lucy! They were such a sweet couple.

    However, my biggest issue with this novel was how much Tarq and Lucy second-guessed themselves and each other when it came to their feelings. I mean there were some really great scenes in this novel. Nevertheless, it seems not long after those great scenes happened the main characters (either one of them or both) would backtrack on their decisions, just drawing out the false pretenses that they were using even though there originally was none! I really couldn't believe that they were so insecure with themselves that they kept putting themselves down. At some points I just wanted to smack them (mostly Lucy since she does it more than Tarq) so they get on track and stop thinking about themselves the way they were. It was really annoying.

    In addition, even though I haven't read all of the books in this series, I was a little surprised that Jack and Cat weren't in this one (not that they needed to be). On the other hand, I really liked that this was only the POVs from the main characters, since in some of the other books it was POVs from a little bit of everyone.

    Anyways .... I would recommend this novel to anyone who is a fan of the series like me!

    My Previous Review(s) for this Series : Book 1 | Book 4

    Book Teaser(s) :
    He wasn't cold---in fact, he felt warmer than normal, which was reassuring. Placing her fingertips on the side of his neck, she finally felt a pulse---very faint and slow, but steady. Perhaps this was what he'd meant when he'd said his body would shut down to heal itself. On the other hand, he'd said he would sleep for a couple of days, not appear to be dead. Trust a man to leave out that most pertinent detail... ~ within Chapter 15
    "Need a slingshot, though---or something like it. With all these rocks lying around everywhere, there's plenty of ammunition. Don't suppose you've got anything stretchy in that bag of yours, do you?"
    Lucy thought for a moment. "Um, the elastic in my underwear, maybe? It's pretty stretchy."
    Tarq began chuckling uncontrollably. "I can hardly wait to tell Dax I killed a vrelnot---or anything else, for that matter---with a pair of ladies panties." ~ within Chapter 21

    "Donovan's Angel" [The Donovans of the Delta Series, Book 1] by Peggy Webb (aka Anna Michaels)

    My Book Summary : After years of traveling to different places and enjoying, a life of carefree living Martie is ready to settle down, so she moves to the small town of Pontotoc, Mississippi with plans to make some roots and teach jazzercise classes. However, the one thing that is not on the menu is to get involved with her hot new backyard neighbor, Paul, who just happens to also be a Reverend. Especially since Paul's life seems to be too much like living in a fish bowl and Martie already knows herself to be eccentric for that type of strict living.

    Nevertheless, trying to get Paul to see the reasoning behind them not getting into a relationship gets harder by the day. Even when you have a mischievous puppy, making sure you always have a reason to see him on what seems to become a daily basis.

    Everyone in town would agree that the two of them together is the worst thing that could happen .... everyone except Paul that is. Now all he has to do is try convincing everyone else in town ... Martie included!

    My Book Review : 3 out of 5 stars, this story is lively, incredibly sweet, fun, and very heartwarming!! The characters and events that go on within this book are very creative and scandalously delicious!! I never thought a Reverend could heat me up as much as Paul does throughout the pages, while Martie is just a hoot with her "brazen" ideas and colorful attire! I thought they made a wonderful couple! In addition, I thought this story had a wonderful plot that really gave me a perspective I never would have thought to look at before.

    The only flaw in this story, for me, was that even after Martie and Paul get married they still held back from each other the passion that is between them because of other people’s views and what they believe is the "right thing to do." I know it would have made for a shorter book but I wish they didn't have to go through all of that. However, I do like how Martie and Paul went about to make their marriage work, as well as, how everything wrapped up in a very surprising panache Martie-like fashion! =0)

    I recommend this to anyone who enjoys soft romance novels that have a lot of comedy thrown in!!

    Book Teaser(s) :
    Teaser #1
    Martie stood hypnotized, watching the pandemonium from her vantage point on the stage. She saw Paul collar the goat just in time to save Miss Beulah, but before she could breathe a sigh of relief she saw movement on the stage.
    Francine’s Siamese was taking advantage of the situation to dive at Martha Sue’s goldfish, and the beagles thought the chase meant rabbits. Sounding their bugle calls, they entered the hunt. One of them ran through Essie Mae’s legs, knocking her onto the lap of the astonished postman, and the other ran under the table of desserts at the back of the room. He bumped the table leg, sending a chocolate-cream pie into flight. The airborne pie landed in Sam’s lap. ~ within Chapter 6
